The inspection prior to acceptance is carried out from a list provided and approved by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec. During the inspection, the contractor must provide you with the checklist. You have the obligation to verify whether all the work planned with the contractor is finished or if it remains to be finished, as well as its quality.
If during the inspection you notice any apparent defects and poor workmanship that require corrective work or work to be completed, you must:

Acceptance with reservation is possible, even if there is corrective work to be done, as long as the work does not compromise the intended use of the building. However, if some work, such as work that had been planned in the original quote, are not completed, you can refuse to accept the building, even with reservation.
If you have not moved into your new home yet, you have 3 days after acceptance to modify this list with any new items and send a copy of the modified checklist to your contractor and GCR.
Once this process is completed, the contractor must complete the work or make the necessary corrections. If for any reason the entrepreneur does not act on it, we invite you to consult the Claim section to find out your rights.
